The Tasmanian Wool Centre at Ross was created as a non-profit organisation in 1988 to celebrate the importance of the wool industry to Tasmania and to highlight the historical significance of Ross as one of Tasmania’s earliest rural settlements dating back 180 years. The Tasmanian Wool Centre is now one of Tasmania’s main tourist attractions receiving over 75,000 visitors annually.

When travelling to Ross the main route is on the Midland Highway also known as the Heritage Highway. History abounds along this old carriage route between Hobart and Launceston when Ross was and still is an important resting point on the journey.
